Why Choose a Family Dentist?

There are several benefits to choosing a family dentist. You don’t have to visit different dental offices because we offer all the services you need under one roof. Your family can get to know one provider and be confident they will see the same friendly, familiar faces every time they visit.

Our dental team can also get to know you and learn about your oral health needs, goals, and preferences. Because we understand your dental history, we can better anticipate your needs and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Your needs are unique, and we customize your treatment plan to reflect that. If you require treatment, Dr. Copeland will explain why, how it will benefit you, and what it involves.
Her goal is to ensure that you fully understand her recommendations and feel confident and informed before proceeding.

Regular Dental Exams and Cleanings

Regular dental exams and cleanings every six months establish a solid foundation for good oral health. These preventive visits allow our team to monitor your dental health and detect problems in their early stages when they're typically easier and less costly to treat.

Dr. Copeland will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and oral tissues for signs of decay, gum disease, or other issues. One of our skilled hygienists performs a thorough teeth cleaning, removing plaque and tartar buildup, polishing your teeth, and providing tips on improving your at-home oral hygiene routine.

Children's First Dental Visit

The timing of the first visit varies with each child, but we generally recommend seeing them no later than age two. Of course, you are welcome to bring them in sooner if there's an issue you'd like us to address! These early visits allow us to monitor your child's dental development and support you by addressing your questions or concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Copeland welcomes patients of all ages, including children. Our team understands how early dental visits can set children up for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. We strive to create a welcoming kid-friendly environment where they can have positive experiences.

What’s Involved with Children’s Dentistry?

Children's dentistry is more than cleaning teeth and treating cavities; it’s about teaching kids the importance of good oral hygiene habits such as regular brushing and flossing. We also monitor your child’s dental development and address potential issues early before they become more complex to treat.

Dr. Copeland knows many children feel nervous or scared about dental visits. That's why she makes an extra effort to communicate with her youngest patients in a way they can understand. She takes time to explain each step of the process so there are no scary surprises. This approach eases children's fears and makes dental visits a positive experience.

Preventative care is a primary focus at Cedar Lake Dental, and we offer dental sealants and fluoride treatments to help protect children's teeth from decay. Regular check-ups and professional cleanings also contribute to maintaining a healthy smile for your child.

Is It Time for Your Child’s Next Dental Check-Up?

Whether it’s your child’s age one visit or time for their next routine dental exam and cleaning, rest assured that our team will provide the care and attention they need. Call our Round Lake, IL, dental office to schedule a convenient appointment.

Family Dentistry Technology

Digital X-Rays & Sensors

Digital x-rays combined with digital sensors offer a modern approach to dental diagnostics. This innovative technology provides a comprehensive and detailed view of your oral health and allows us to observe tooth roots, bone health, hidden decay, and even cysts.

At Cedar Lake Dental, we use the Nomad™ handheld dental x-ray system and digital sensors. This state-of-the-art combination ensures precision, flexibility, and minimal radiation exposure to enhance your safety and comfort.

By enabling early identification of potential issues and precise treatment planning, digital x-rays and sensors help Dr. Copeland deliver superior dental care so you can maintain a healthy, radiant smile.

Intraoral Cameras

The intraoral camera is an amazing diagnostic tool for viewing different angles in the mouth that we would not have been able to just a few years ago. The camera allows us to view the entire mouth on a monitor to get a closer look at any potential issues or problems that may develop. An intraoral camera is also a great educational tool because you can see the images we see in real-time. Because they are digital, we can save the images to your patient record and share them with insurance companies as needed.

VibraJect Injection Comfort System

The VibraJect Injection Comfort System is a remarkable tool that can transform your experience of dental injections. Often, it's not the needle that causes discomfort but the sensation of administering the anesthetic.

The Vibraject system cleverly addresses this by using vibration to confuse sensory signals sent to the brain. When we feel two sensations simultaneously, the brain tends to pay more attention to the one that's vibrating. In this case, the vibration sensation reaches the brain first, essentially distracting it from the sensation of the needle!

The result is a significant reduction in discomfort during injections. Many patients report not feeling the needle, describing the sensation as more of a buzz than a sting. This makes dental treatments more comfortable and helps relieve anxiety for those with a fear of needles.
